Entry to Austria:

CURRENT CORONA MEASURES IN AUSTRIA

For entrants to Austria applies in principle:

  • 2-G-Plus obligation (vaccinated, recovered and PCR-tested).

Exceptions to the 2-G-Plus obligation apply, among others, to:

  • Persons who have received a booster vaccination (3rd sting), the PCR test obligation does not apply.
  • Pregnant women as well as persons who cannot be vaccinated require an appropriate medical certificate and a negative PCR test

Exceptions Children:

  • Children up to age 12 do not require proof of low epidemiologic risk for lodging, food service, sports venues, recreational businesses, ski lifts, or at events.
  • Children from 12 to the end of compulsory schooling (persons born before the cut-off date 01.09.2006 are no longer subject to compulsory schooling) require appropriate proof of a low epidemiological risk:
    • Children who are dually vaccinated do not require further on-site testing. The vaccination is considered as 2G proof. (Attention: on entry need a PCR test)
    • For Austrian school children a VALID (Holiday-)Ninja-Passport is equivalent to a 2G proof.
    • Children traveling to Austria need a PCR test at least 2 times a week. These are therefore considered as 2G proof.
    • A negative PCR test is required for entry into Austria.
  • After the end of compulsory schooling, children are subject to the 2G requirement when entering accommodation, gastronomy, sports facilities, leisure facilities, ski lifts or at events.

Quarantine can be terminated no earlier than the 5th day after entry with a negative PCR test.

The 2-G-Plus obligation does NOT apply to staying in a hotel or for skiing,
2-G-Plus duty applies purely for entry into Austria.

Detailed information about entering Austria can be found at the following link:
Safe travel in Austria in Corona times: Entry (austria.info)

Registration before entry is not required for vaccinated and recovered persons as well as children accompanying them (exception: entry from virus variant areas). Registration is necessary if you enter Austria with 2-G status but without PCR test or booster and if you enter Austria without 2-G status.
Here you can find more information about the
Pre-Travel-Clearance. And here you can go directly to the online entry form.

This means for private/tourist travel

  • Vaccinated and recovered persons do NOT have to be in quarantine.
  • Children under the age of 12 do not have to provide proof of vaccination, but they have to register for entry and have to stay in quarantine for 5 days when returning to GERMANY.
  • for children without 2-G proof (from 12 to 15 years) a PCR-test is required for entry and PCR-tests (72 hours) apply for entry into accommodation, gastronomy etc..
